unlikely pairing


cheese and chopped up banana on toast – it may sound strange, but as far as i’m concerned its a little known scottish delicacy. and it really does taste pretty nice – the sweetness of the banana works well with the savoury taste of the cheese. a mild cheddar works well. i reckon jarlsberg or leerdammer would also work quite well. but don’t have it too thick. you want just enough.

toast the bread in the toaster, butter it, stick on the chunks/slices of banana, then your pieces of cheese, stick under a moderately heated grill for 6 or 7 mins…long enough for the cheese to melt.
